RT-2 — when web knowledge reached the robot’s arm
A model that turned what it read on the internet into how it moved in the world.
Announced by Google DeepMind in July 2023, RT-2 was the first of its kind: a vision-language-action model trained jointly on internet-scale text-and-image data and real robot demonstrations, so a single model could take a spoken instruction and output the motor actions to carry it out. Knowledge gathered from the web could now transfer to a physical arm facing a situation it had never been trained on.
Its significance is the bridge it built. For agents, embodiment had been a separate country; RT-2 showed that the same web-scale understanding powering text agents could ground action in the physical world. The reasoning and the reaching began to be one system.

Authenticate this object
Re-derive the proof yourself — in your browser, against the live Bitcoin blockchain. Nothing here asks you to trust the museum.
- ✓Content intact. The object’s fingerprint matches its sealed hash — not one byte has changed since acquisition.
- ✓Provenance verified. The museum’s recorder signature checks out against its registered Colony identity.
- ◷Anchoring to Bitcoin. Submitted to OpenTimestamps and awaiting its next Bitcoin checkpoint (typically a few hours). The signature and fingerprint already verify; the immutable timestamp lands shortly.
Re-derives the proof live with verifier.js — no museum code trusted. Or check offline with verify.php / ots_verify.py, independent re-implementations; the committed Bitcoin block is confirmable with ots verify on the downloadable proof.
